Our worship service, as well as our children’s programming begins at 9:45AM every Sunday morning. In order to give you a feel of what your experience with us might be like, we have sketched out a brief description of what you will probably encounter on a typical Sunday morning at Grace.
Grace is designed to be a place where people from all walks of life are made to feel welcomed. Dress is casual and the atmosphere is extremely relaxed. At the front entrance, you will be greeted by some friendly people who will direct you to the place where we worship and celebrate God together.
If you have children, the greeters will be glad to help you find the most age appropriate classroom for them. During the time we worship together, our nursery, preschool, and elementary teams will be engaging your children and helping them to experience the love of God in ways that will leave them wanting to come back for more. If your children are in JH or SH, we also have a gifted team of people who will be meeting with and helping them to encounter God in ways that are relevant, practical and stimulating.
When you come into our sanctuary, you will be given a copy of the bulletin, which has information about who we are and what is going on in our community for the coming week. After sitting down, you can expect to have 10- 15 minutes of time where you are encouraged to settle in, relax, and be present. We know that getting up and getting out of the house on a Sunday morning might be challenging, so we want you to be able to and collect yourself before we begin. During this time, our musicians will play and sing some contemporary worship songs. If you want to join in, the words to the songs are on a big screen in the front for you to follow. If not, we encourage you to be still and just listen.
After this introductory time, you will be welcomed and invited to join the team as they lead us in a few songs that we sing together to celebrate God or reflect on His goodness and presence in our lives. Depending on the day, we also like to use the arts: multimedia, drama, or even dance to express ourselves in worship, as well as give our artists a place to share their gifts and talents with the larger community.
At some point during the service, we will also take a few moments to share about things that are happening in our community so that people can get connected to or engaged with others in a number of different ways outside of the Sunday morning experience. In our worship of God, we also value talking to God and being still before Him and will always make time in our service to do so.
Finally, you can expect to hear a practical message from the Scriptures that is designed to help you understand God’s Word and how it applies to your present life situation, whatever that might be. This is a time for you to look at your life and listen for God’s still, small voice as He seeks to encounter you through His Word. In the end, there is usually a challenge for you to consider and then a time of reflection on that challenge.
In total, our service usually lasts about 75 minutes. Afterwards, you can pick up your children from their classrooms, and then we hope you will stick around and enjoy some coffee and bagels and meet some new friends. After all, church is about God and worship, but so too, about community and friendship, and so we hope you can stay and experience the warmth and friendliness at Grace on a more personal level.
